Tobacco trouble

Dear healthmatters — As a new reader, I was impressed with your statement of editorial policy, especially your commitment to reducing inequalities.

However, since the Kings Fund’s recent report Tackling Inequalities in Health: an agenda for action identifies smoking as one of the major causes of inequalities in health in the UK, I was puzzled by your use of a smoker’s silhouette to illustrate your ‘News from Nowhere’ column.

Perhaps this feature is sponsored by the tobacco industry?
