Distorted vision

I am writing to protest at the column by David Seedhouse in the last issue of healthmatters (The dominatrix of health, issue 55).

Not only was it in poor taste, but it was a stereotyped and completely distorted misrepresentation of what health promotion is all about.

The philosophy of health promotion emphasises enabling people to gain (or regain) control over their lives and make informed decisions about their future. To present it as a form of sado-masochism in which all pleasure is banned and the only purpose is to ‘add years to life’ is simply wallowing in ignorance.
