who are we?
healthmatters started back in 1988, when fears about the future of the British NHS were running high.
A group of health workers, health service users, activists and journalists got together to talk about what could be done... and healthmatters was born.
At that time we ran the magazine according to our ideals: independent, not-for-profit, clear editorial principles, no drug company advertising. And we still do.
healthmatters results from the work of very many people who care about the NHS and public health: writers, reviewers, subeditors, office staff and yes, even the printers believe in what they are doing.
